Midshipmen & Grads
Registration
- Go to returnedwithhonor.com on a mobile device.
- Click the Get Started button.
- You will be redirected to a registration page.
- Enter your Alpha Code and select your Company Number from the dropdown.
- You will be redirected to a map of the Yard.
Where to Start: Understanding the Map
- The map features 19 installations.
- Mids must complete 14 required installations to fulfill the POW Challenge.
- Gold pins indicate required exhibits.
- White pins indicate installations that are not required, but encouraged. A pin will turn green once the installation is completed.
- Users can click a map pin and an installation popup will appear.
- This will show users a description of the installation, where it is located, and a link to Google Maps lat/long if needed.
- You may use the map to navigate to the location.
- Below the map is a list of all installation titles.
- They are color coded to match the pins on the map, and a green checkmark will appear next to each installation title once completed.
- These titles are clickable (like the map pins) and will also bring up installation popups.
- If a Mid completes the POW Challenge (14 installations) they will receive a Challenge Coin and discounts with NABSD (Steerage, Coffee).
Engaging with an Installation
- Once you are registered, go to the location of an installation. Find the plaque associated with it.
- Scan the QR code on the plaque with a mobile device.
- Each installation is distinct from one another, providing various combinations of interactive material. You will watch the first-hand accounts of former POWs, explore archival images and film, engage with self-reflective quizzes, and even participate in interactive games.
- All installations have sound.
- Alternatively, Mids can toggle into Podcast Mode (using the menu in the upper right) to listen to a narrated version of the installation. You will not get "completion credit" in podcast mode.
- A timer will be present in the upper right corner.
- When the timer ends, a Mid will now be eligible to answer one question related to the installation's content.
- If the Mid gets the question correct, the installation will be set to complete and will unlock a piece of a puzzle.
- If the Mid gets the question wrong, the installation timer restarts.
- A Mid can view their progress on the puzzle by opening the menu and clicking Puzzle.
- To solve the overall puzzle, Mids must complete the 14 required installations.
Completing the POW Challenge
- When a user completes the 14 installations all the gold pins will be green.
- A green checkmark will be next to all the required installations in the list below the map.
- A coupon icon and a coin icon will appear at the top.
- Clicking on each of these icons will open a page.
- Each page will have instructions on how to receive discounts and a POW Challenge Coin.
- Mids can also use this page to show training officers their completion status.
- On the Puzzle page, a user will now have the complete puzzle to solve.
- Upon completion, a Mid may receive the discount. The Mid has 48 hours after completion to receive the discounts.
- * Grads may input their "old" alpha codes, and company number. Upon completion, a Grad may go to the USNA Gift Shop to receive the discount. The Grad has 48 hours after completion to receive the discount at the Gift Shop.
